WWI (and WWII) German Knits

All countries during the war were busy knitting. I have acquired dozens of WWI German patterns and have knitted a few of them. I will be continuing to build on this to make more of these items for my customers who are representing all countries for living history. I have the patterns in the original German that I am translating from, for the most authentic reproductions possible. Also, a few WWII items featured as I make them.

WWI WWII German Beanie, Haube mit langem Rand, Long Brimmed Hood
Although the pattern recommends gray wool, I used black at the request of a customer. This is the No. 4 cap from the above pattern; the ‘Haube mit langem Rand’ or ‘Long-Brimmed Hood’
WWI Great War German Balaclava
This is the #35 balaclava that I knitted from the above pattern.
WWI German Vest Reproduction.
This is a modified version of the above German vest that I made for a customer.
WWI Great War German Scarf
The “Tafel 5a” scarf that I made.
German Wool Knitted Balaclava Tafel 1B
Here is the Tafel 1B that I knitted. (The background is a cardigan I made.)
A custom vest I knitted for a WWI German reenactor.
I knitted this German vest from a photo a customer sent me.
WWII German sweater reproduction.
I knitted this German sweater using a WW2 pattern and photos a customer had sent me.
WWII WW2 German Toque Reproduction
I worked with a customer who’s an expert in this field, and with his guidance, I knitted this WWII German toque.
